The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, of killing over 2000 of its members.

They made the accusation following the party’s statement yesterday that described IPOB’s leader Nnamdi Kanu, as a maximum emperor.

Recall that AGPA had in a statement on Tuesday taken a swipe at Kanu and his IPOB for
allegedly calling for a boycott of the Anambra, November 18 polls.

But IPOB in a press statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday
in Awka, Anambra State by its Media and Publicity Secretary,
Emma Powerful, described APGA’s attack on Kanu
as childish antics.

IPOB claimed that the government had at several
times killed no fewer than 2000 of its members in Anambra State.

The statement said, "We the Indigenous People of Biafra and its leadership worldwide view the childish antics of the All Progressive Grand Alliance as a jealousy laden, derisory attempt to deflect attention away from the fact that APGA as the governing party in Anambra State has been responsible for the death of innocent Biafrans numbering over 2000 since the formation.

"The two notable instances being the infamous Ezu River bodies and the heinous massacres at Nkpor and Head Bridge Onitsha respectively.

"The party employed wholesale slaughter of their people as a way of stopping the agitation for restoration of Biafra not knowing that we are prepared to keep dying until Biafra is restored as we swore.

"In the purported letter written by the party
in Anambra State threatening a showdown with IPOB
led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu which gave order of no election in all Biafraland starting from Anambra Gubernatorial election come
November this year, APGA failed to mention the fact that Biafrans and IPOB, in particular, campaigned and voted for both Peter Obi,
Rochas Okorocha and Willie Obiano but were rewarded
with shoot on sight orders issued by both men.

"It is very unfortunate that APGA as a political party preoccupied with feathering the nests of a select few, underestimate the desire of every genuine Biafran to be liberated from the slavery and bondage that Nigeria has come to represent. APGA is motivated by personal greed and self-aggrandise ment unlike IPOB that is purely focused on the liberation of our people and by extension, other oppressed people in Nigeria.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has
accepted defeat in Saturday’s senatorial election and congratulated the winner.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Ademola Adeleke, defeated the APC’s Mudashiru
Hussein by over 30,000 votes to win the Osun West Senatorial bye-election.

In his reaction to the result, the Osun APC chairman, Gboyega
Famorodun, congratulated Mr. Adeleke, saying his election was the voice of the people speaking
"loud and clear."

In a statement on Sunday in Osogbo, Mr. Famorodun said his party has learnt its lessons from the election and would come out stronger
in the coming elections.

"We congratulate the people of the 10 local governments that participated in the election for their peaceful conduct and on the choice they have made,"
he said.

"We equally commend the APC-led federal and state governments for ensuring peaceful, free and fair election.

"We also congratulate Ademola Adeleke for his victory and we hope
that now that the election is behind us, he will put partisan politics aside to represent the interest of the entire people of his constituency.

"Although the outcome is contrary to our expectation, the people have spoken and we heard their voice loud and clear. As democrats, we respect their choice."

DISAGREEMENT

In his reaction, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives
Congress in Ondo State, Abayomi Adesanya, attributed the failure of his party
to win the Osun election to lack of internal democracy and
imposition of candidate.

Mr. Adesanya, who spoke in Akure on Sunday, said the party
was defeated because party leaders failed to respect the will of the
people.

"It is corruption and against the tenets of democracy to impose the will of a few individuals on the collective will of the majority," he said.

"In democracy, leaders are made when the followers freely submit their sovereignty to them, not by imposition.

"There must be mutual respect and recognition for committed and loyal party members (especially financial members) when critical decisions are to be taken.

"The party has paid dearly for all these in both elections and governance."

Mr. Adsanya’s outburst against the party in neighbouring Osun is not unconnected with the politics that trailed the emergence of Rotimi Akeredolu as the APC governorship candidate in Ondo State last year.

The party in Ondo had accused its counterpart in Osun and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of backing Olusola Oke, the Alliance for
Democracy, AD, candidate, during the election.

Mr. Adesanya had maintained that act was an anti-party
activity that needed to be punished according to the provisions of the party’s constitution.

"Our party in the State of Osun has just paid for lack of internal democracy, mutual respect for members, and discriminatory leadership," he said.

He further admonished state chapters of the party to always abide by the tenets of the party’s constitution in nominating candidates for
elections.

"The party’s affairs should be handled maturely and decision taken should be all-inclusive," Mr.
Adesanya noted.

"That will encourage commitment and loyalty among members. Leaders must not encourage lawlessness by rewarding anti-party activities of members with appointment as we have seen recently in Osun.

"It is high time we charted a new course and embrace our party’s constitution in its entirety in the best interest of
all and sundry."

Responding to Mr. Abayomi’s statement, the spokesperson of the APC in Osun, Kunle Ayatomi, said the APC in Ondo has no knowledge of the happenings of the party in Osun.

"If they (APC Osun) have the problem of internal democracy
in Ondo, we in Osun don’t have that problem," Mr. Ayatomi said.

Calabar — About 97 Nigerians are feared killed as Cameroon Gendermes allegedly attacked residents of Bakassi over failure to pay a N100,
000 boat levy.It was learnt that the attackers sacked mainly Nigerians from Akwa Ibom,
Cross River and Ondo states. Many others escaped at midnight with their
fishing boats and arrived at Ikang in Bakassi and Ibaka in Akwa Ibom.

The killing and sacking of Nigerians in former Bakassi is believed to be a violation of the 2005 Green Tree
Agreement (GTA) by the Nigeria-Cameroo n Mixed Commission which stipulates
that the Bakassi returnees must be properly resettled to their natural habitat so
that they can have a meaningful living. The GTA also states that Nigerians who
choose to remain in Cameroon can do so without any molestation. The
agreement makes it clear that there would be a committee monitoring the activities but
since the day the treaty was signed, Bakassi people have not seen any monitoring team.

Federal government officials yesterday evaded questions from The Guardian as government spokesmen failed to respond to inquiries.

Three text messages seeking clarification on what the official reaction of Nigeria would be did not elicit
any response. At Ikang beach, it was a picture of abandoned and traumatised people.
Most of them remained at the jetty looking disillusioned and rejected, while a few women with their babies and children moved into Ikang village for shelter.

They looked helpless, as they pondered on how to survive, pointing at some of
the boats they managed to rescue -- apparently the only property they
came back with. The fate of the Bakassi people at the hands of
the Cameroon Gendarmes, and even back home since the International Court
of Justice (ICJ) judgement, has been that
of neglect by the Nigerian government. The internally displaced
persons from Bakassi Cameroon since the GTA 12 years ago have lived in squalor in rickety mosquito-infest ed classroom blocks in Cross River and Akwa Ibom despite
complaints from notable leaders like Senator Florence Ita-Giwa and
the Bakassi paramount ruler, Etinyin Etim Okon Edet.

Scores of Nigerians Killed As Thousands Flee Cameroon

The situation is so bad that in the Akwa Ikot Edem Udo IDP
camp, over 1,000 children are not in school. The Bakassi IDPs and the latest returnees have accused the Cross River
State government and Federal Government of playing politics with their lives and means of livelihood. At
the Ikang Beach in the new Bakassi yesterday, many of the returnees with their wooden engine boats were
seen hanging around the jetty, lamenting their fate.

They alleged constant harassment and raping of their women by the gendarmes.
They said yesterday's incident was the climax
as the attackers came shooting and chasing them away for refusing to pay the N100,000 engine boat
tax.

One of the returnees, Chief Umoh Umoh Inyang, said that from Akpankanya in Abana, the
headquarters of former Bakassi "the Cameroonian gendarmes have been harassing us. They destroyed our boats, beat us and shot many of us to death. They make a lot of trouble for us in Akpankanya in Bakassi.

"They would not let us carry on with our lives and livelihood in peace.
The suffering is so much that we have to come back. They would not let us go to the sea for our fishing, and in our houses where we were just staying, they came and asked us to pay N100, 000
for each boat and when we said we did not have such money, they started
beating us. They shot many of us.

"We had to leave suddenly, and so many people missed their children and members of their families. We got to this Ikang jetty around 2:00 a.m. today. They even raped our wives. Many of our people have been held captive there. They have killed about 97 people. Many people ran into the bush, many are scattered along the waterways. We came in all these boats you are seeing here. We were over 2,000 who were scattered over there. At least 94 were killed in Atabong where we were. We don't know about other areas. We were hearing gunshots all over the place. We have about 137 who landed here in Ikang. The number is actually growing because we were 132 when we first got here and the immigration officials are registering us."

Another returnee Mr. Nse Okon, from Akpankanya in Abana, said:
"They destroyed everything. In 2008 they killed three people who worked with me. The government should come to our aid and resettle us properly in our own country. This time around, they came and told me to pay N100, 000 tax for this engine and I said I did not have that kind of money. That is why they started beating us.

"The Nigerian government should intervene urgently in this matter.
Let the international community also intervene in this matter.

Our land has been ceded and the people are not accommodating us there.
If we can be resettled here and given work to survive, we would be grateful.

They should note that we cannot survive upland too because we are
all fishermen and most of us did not go to school.
So they should resettle us and create alternatives for us to survive."

The IDP camp leader at Aqua Ikot Edem Udo, Mr. Ene Okon said: "I don't know what our leaders
have been doing. These things continue, despite the Green Tree Agreement and the Federal
Government is silent about it. Those displaced in 2013 are still living in an open hall in a primary
school."

The Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor and Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Christian Ita said: "I think enquiries should be directed to the Federal Government.
They should not kill Cross River after all they have collected everything."

He pointed out that "there was a Green Tree Agreement that was signed and if
Cameroon is defaulting on it, it is not a sub-national issue
but a national and international issue. Cross River is not even a party to it but
as usual Cross River will offer them the basic necessity to keep them alive.
